Members of the Wi-Manx team took part in Ballakermeen High School’s Careers Fair this Tuesday, along with 40 other employers and related agencies. The event was targeted at Year 9 students, who will be beginning to think about careers they would want in the future.
As the leading Isle of Man based technology and telco provider, we have been providing young people with internship and trainee opportunities for a number of years. Our placements provide students with an understanding of the ICT function from a grassroots level and upwards.
In August 2016 current employee Jay Walters, who was undertaking his A ‘Levels, completed a four-week internship under the Careers Ready Programme here at Wi-Manx.
During this, Jay gained a broad range of experience and the chance to see as many aspects of the company as possible – from customer support to being involved with the delivery of broadband and datacentre services. Jay is currently undertaking our trainee development programme and is a key part of the support team as a first line engineer.
Sarah Read, Wi-Manx Marketing Manager, said “We were delighted to be invited to the careers show which provided us with the opportunity to speak to students who are considering their futures in ICT and to tell them about Wi-Manx as a potential future employer”
