SDSL

Symmetric robust broadband connections up to 2Mbps

Wi-Manx SDSL offers a reliable and affordable symmetric Broadband solution for businesses on the Isle of Man. It is the ideal solution for running an office web or e-mail server, VPN applications, Video Conferencing, VoIP or enabling remote-working. SDSL is a powerful mid-range business solution, positioned between ADSL and leased-lines. Low contention ensures service performance even during periods of high demand.

SDSL is the perfect upgrade for businesses who find their bandwidth demands are now outgrowing their ADSL connection. The growth of thin client services such as remote and homeworkers, VPN connections between offices is putting an ever increasing emphasis on the upload speed of broadband connections. SDSL is symmetric, this means it delivers the same upload speed as download speed.

Wi-Manx offer a managed or wires only service. Our managed service includes an SDSL router, configuration, installation and remote technical support. For more information on our managed services and to see a  choice of routers please visit our equipment section

Where our WiMAX service is unavailable, we recommend the use of SDSL.

Technical Information

SDSL is delivered over an analogue line. Unlike ADSL, the analogue SDSL cannot be used for normal voice. SDSL is now wires only and will need a router – we can supply and configure these for you through our managed service.

SDSL is range dependant, normally service is available within 5km of the nearest SDSL-enabled exchange.
