Will my latency change following the switch to ADSL2+?

The ADSL2+ deployment incorporates a technology known as interleaving by default. Interleaving on ADSL can increase the tolerance to noise and can also improve the performance of the service, especially on marginal or longer lines.

A result of interleaving is customers may see a nominal increase in latency of around 15-30ms following the switch. At the current time, Interleaving can not be turned off on a customer line.

How much will my broadband speed increase following the switch to ASDL2+?

Estimating the increase in speed following the upgrade is difficult, so we have produced the following Upgrade estimator tool to help determine if you should upgrade to ADSL2+. Please note this is still in the early stages of development and there are no guarantees based on the figures produced. In time we hope to offer a more accurate online estimator tool that will be able to judge the speed available based on your phone number or post-code.

Do I require any special equipment?

Customers will require an ASDL2+ compatible router or modem to benefit from the service. All of the routers supplied by Wi-Manx to date are ADSL2+ compatible.

For customers without an ADSL2+ compatible router or modem, we stock a variety of models in our Victoria Street shop.

To check to see if your router supports ADSL2+ - check the manufacturers website or the router data sheets, look to see if it supports ADSL2+ or ADSL G.992.5

What is Reach Extended ADSL (RE-ADSL2)?

Reach Extended ADSL increases the effective range of ADSL, meaning broadband service is available on much longer lines. The other benefit of READSL is broadband speeds may increase for those customers already on longer lines.

How much will the ADSL2+ service cost?

It's now FREE for customers to be upgraded to ADSL2+. Simply contact sales@wimanx.com and we'll process your order

I am an existing Wi-Manx customer, how do I upgrade to ADSL2+?

Just send an e-mail to sales@wimanx.com. Our support team may ask for certain line statistics in order to estimate the possible increase in broadband speed. You can then make the decision whether you want to continue with the upgrade or not.

When is ADSL2+ available in my area?

All exchanges have now been enabled and ADSL2+ is available Island wide.
