The range of solutions, underpinned by the state-of-the-art Heywood House Datacentre and IP network, will offer a high-performance platform on which customers can run a variety of services, from single cloud servers to dedicated virtual datacentre environments.
VMWare is the global leader in virtualization and Cloud infrastructure with more than 300,000 customers and 25,000 partners worldwide. The research firm Gartner defines Cloud Computing as ‘a style of computing where scalable and elastic IT capabilities are provided as a service to multiple customers using Internet technologies’.
Joe Hughes, Chief Technical Officer at Heywood, comments:
Datacentre outsourcing, and in particular Cloud Computing, are real growth areas for our business. The new platform provides the ideal base for businesses looking to leverage the many benefits Cloud Computing offers, enabling them to access a range of on-demand computing, network and storage resources with ease.
Alan Cowin, Group Operations Manager, adds:
It’s about fully understanding your customer requirements and managing their expectations – while Cloud Computing has revolutionised many areas of computing, Cloud adoption has to fit your customer’s needs and be fully understood. For those customers looking to utilise Cloud Computing, our new platform offers unrivalled flexibility, cost effectiveness with instant deployment options and unrivalled scalability.
Joe believes Heywood, and in particular the Isle of Man, has a real opportunity in the Cloud Computing space.
While the actual technologies relating to Cloud Computing are well established, there are many areas such as data protection, standardisation, the legal framework, regulation, compliance and certification that need addressing,’ Joe says. ‘Although many countries are struggling to deal with the Cloud Computing paradigm, we see it as the perfect opportunity for the Isle of Man to emerge as the leader in this field. Over the coming months, we at Heywood are looking forward to working with our close partners, our customers and the Department of Economic Development to help position the Isle of Man at the forefront of the Cloud Computing sector.
