Wi-Manx announce new multi-million pound datacentre facility

Wi-Manx Limited – an Isle of Man based ISP and hosting provider are in the final stages of a project that will see their Heywood House headquarters transformed into a multimillion pound, state of the art datacentre. Due for completion in 2011 – the new datacentre is set to be the most modern facility of its type on the Isle of Man.

Edward Whipp, MD of Wi-Manx commented;

We have experienced rapid growth since our formation in 2004 and we were looking to continue this growth by embracing new markets.

As one of the leading service providers on the Isle of Man we are often approached by businesses looking for complex hosting, disaster recover or co-location solutions – I’m glad to say that in a few months time we’ll be able to offer our customers a world-class portfolio of hosting products and services.

We made the decision to expand our operation last year and this significant private investment underlines our commitment to the Isle of Man and our confidence in the e-business sector.

The project is a major undertaking for Wi-Manx and only serves to further enhance the Isle of Man’s reputation as being at the fore-front of e-business.  The first phase of the project is nearing completion with full commissioning of the datacentre expected to be completed in Q1 2011.

As part of the continued expansion, Wi-Manx’s operations at Victoria Street will soon be incorporated into their 9000 sq ft Headquarters at Heywood House in Ridgeway Street.
