Manx Hockey announce major three year sponsorship deal

A MAJOR sponsorship worth an annual five figure sum for three years has been announced by leading internet service provider Wi-Manx to support Manx Hockey Association’s ambitious plans to offer greater opportunities for the sport on the Island.

“It is the most significant one-off sponsorship Wi-Manx has made,” said managing director Edward Whipp.  “Over what will be a three-year period we see it benefiting a particularly wide section of the community because of the diverse age range of the MHA’s membership.”

He added: “Hockey is an increasingly popular sport with families on the Island as it involves children, their parents and grandparents and this is a factor which particularly impressed us when making the decision.  It is a safe sport which is very much at the heart of the Island’s communities and Wi-Manx is both delighted and excited to be involved in its future development.”

From the start of the 2010-11 season Wi–Manx will support all MHA activities – from junior coaching to Island squads, leagues and cup competition (including indoor).  The sponsorship is almost certainly unique as it will benefit all element of the sport, including coaches and umpires. Read more…

Bushys Beer Tent Cameras – over 62,000 streams served

The streaming from the Bushys Beer Tent proved a great success this year.

The video cameras were operating for just over a week, during that time the cameras delivered over 62,000 streams and well over 1TB of data from our server. The busiest periods were during the evenings when the live bands were performing – although we had constant viewers throughout the day.

The “button” camera that we piloted this year was also a great success. Over the period, with little publicity it took well over 1,000 pictures. You can see the pictures over at our facebook group

Going forward, we’ll be looking at other ways we can utilise our experience in these areas with a view to having live streaming from other locations, events and venues throughout the year – and of course during TT week.

Please Note

There may be brief interruptions in the stream whilst we add\remove\adjust the cameras.

Live streaming from the beer-tent

We’re busy making the final preparations for the live-streaming from the beer-tent.

We are awaiting delivery of three IP cameras which will provide the main streams from the tent, there have been some delays but we’re expecting these in the next day or so. Our engineers are also busy installing the WiMAX wireless internet connection which will be used to provide connectivity to the tent.

We’ll provide updates on the blog and post some photos of how things are going.

In the meantime – we will have some streams operational WEDNESDAY
